Music Technology Studios

The School of Music has a number of well-equipped studios for music production.

Recording Studio - Pro Tools HD3 systems, Control|24, 32 track recording, Clavinova, Waves/Reason plugins, surround monitoring, drum booth.

MIDI Lab - Synthesizers and sequencing, film scoring: Macintosh G4, Digital Performer, Pro Tools LE (Digi002), Mackie mixer, Proteus and Roland modules, Yamaha keyboard controller.

DVD Postproduction Studio - stereo and surround sound mixing, DVD and DVD-Audio authoring, audio and video processing research, ADAT/HD24/video transfer, editing, rendering: Macintosh G5, Sony PC, Pro Tools LE (Digi002 console), Diskwelder Steel, Proteus module, video playback/DVD-Audio player with separate surround sound system for testing.

The Resource Center - 8 iMacs with Pro Tools free, Finale. eMac with video editing and Pro Tools LE (Mbox) capabilities. Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Photoshop Elements.

Music Education Classroom - 16 iMac G5 computers with keyboards with teacher station and projector, Mbox, Pro Tools, Performer, Finale, Pyware, and the Apple suite of multimedia applications.

Piano Lab - digital pianos, PCs, Finale, Band in a Box, etc.

Angelle Hall Auditorium - the auditorium booth is used for some production classes and to record concerts: Allen and Heath GL4000 board, Alesis HD24 recorder, DVD recorder, camcorder, effects, CD/DAT recorder, effects.

Disklavier - a Disklavier upright and sound module are available for use in one of the practice rooms.

Field Recording - The Alesis Corporation has donated a mic/line mixer and HD24 with which to do remote 24-track digital recordings. These are brought back mixed with Pro Tools in the DVD Studio.

KRVS Media - we enjoy a close relationship and collaboration with the campus NPR/PRI radio affiliate. Visit the music director, and see if they will play your music. There are intern positions, and over time you may be able to work into hosting your own program.

Center for Culture and Eco-Tourism - students can do research and assist in the library's archiving and publishing of folk music materials.
