Applied study refers to the accumulation of musical skill on an instrument or in singing through individual or group instruction. Admission to AMUS 115 (individual instruction) is by audition only. Students who do not pass an audition for AMUS 115 may take group instruction instead. Options for group instruction include Class Voice (MUS 321 & 322), Class Guitar (MUS 325 & 326), Class Cajun Fiddle (MUS 327 & 328), Class Button Accordion (MUS 329), and Cajun & Creole Vocals (MUS 331).

Music business students are required to take four semesters of ensemble credit.
