Degree Programs

Music

In the music division of the School of Music and Performing Arts, we offer programs to earn your Bachelor of Music, your Bachelor of Arts, or your Master of Music degree.

Bachelor of Music

The Bachelor of Music degree program is designed to prepare you for a career as a professional musician or to pursue a higher degree in music. Most of your courses will be in applied music and music studies, along with other general courses in English, history, math, etc., that all undergraduates are required to take.

At UL Lafayette, we have five Bachelor of Music programs:

Bachelor of Arts

The Bachelor of Arts degree includes fewer applied music courses than the Bachelor of Music degree, but more specific music courses related to your area of study. Music business is our fastest-growing degree program, and we offer the only traditional music program in the state. The music education program is offered in partnership with the College of Education.

Master of Music

Our Master of Music degree programs combines 12 credit hours in your specialization, a range of advanced music courses, and performance requirements. As a Master of Music student, you can specialize in:

Performing Arts

Bachelor of Fine Arts

Our Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is designed to prepare you for a career as a professional in dance or theatre, and most of your courses will be in those areas. Our program also requires some general education courses in English, history, math, etc., but you'll be able to spend most of your time in the studios, on the stage, and behind the scenes.
