Tommy Comeaux Endowed Chair in Traditional Music

Tommy Comeaux was a local physician and music lover who died in a cycling accident in 1997. The Endowed Chair in Traditional Music is the result of a grass roots effort in his honor and for love of roots music. There is a lot of goodwill in the community and support for this project.

Over $600,000 of the endowment has been raised over the years by members of the Lafayette community, to which the Board of Regents added $400,000 to fund the Chair. The University administration is enthusiastic and solidly supportive of this project.

The information here was collected in order to provide people who might be interested in the position more information in order to show that, while this will be a new program, it will not have to be built from scratch.
