Bands Scholarships

We're glad you're considering joining the bands at UL Lafayette. Not only is performing an exciting opportunity to continue playing and performing, it's a great way to earn money for college. Every member of the Pride of Acadiana is eligible to receive a scholarship, and some stipends and scholarships are available for other bands and ensembles.

When you fill out your audition form, which you can find with the audition requirements, that form acts as your scholarship application.

Scholarship awards start at $600 (fall semester only). You can also receive a meal or housing award which goes towards the cost of on-campus living. Meal plan awards are given to students who already have an Academic Housing award. For Fall 2020, the Meal waver will be worth $1,720/semester ($3,440/year). There are two types of Housing awards can be used for any on campus housing including Legacy Park, UL Lafayette's apartment-style student residence on campus. Heritage apartments are not able to receive housing scholarships at this time.

The two housing awards types are:

Pride of Acadiana Housing Award (depends on availability) is worth ~$2,350/semester (~$4,700/year).

Marching Band Housing Assistance Award is worth ~$1,175/semester (~$2,350/year).

Larger scholarships that are based on talent and achievement can be given to students who audition. Different dorms have different costs. Visit the Office of University Housing page for exact prices.

If you receive a Housing Award, you will also be required to participate in our of our spring ensembles:

  • Wind Ensemble
  • Symphonic Winds
  • Concert Band
  • Ragin' Brass (Basketball Band)

Housing waivers are also available for those in Wind Ensemble.
