Marie S. Broussard

Marie received her BFA degree in Choreographic Design/Dance Emphasis from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, formerly USL, where she was a Liberace scholar. In 1997 she served on the panel of the Louisiana division of the Arts Decentralized arts funding program. Mrs. Broussard served as choreographer for Iberia Parish Arts League's musicals Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, and Guys and Dolls. Marie has taught at various private dance schools, the UL Lafayette Children's Dance Guild, and the Lafayette Parish School Board's High School Performing Arts Academy. She established Iberia Dance Conservatory in 1999, where she was Artistic Director and instructor for ten years. She is a member of the American College Dance Association and CORP-de-Ballet, an international organization dedicated to research of ballet in higher education. In the Spring of 2007, she joined the UL Lafayette Performing Arts faculty as Instructor of Dance teaching Ballet, Dance Pedagogy, and Dance History. As a resident choreographer for the university's faculty and guest artist concert State of LA Danse, Marie has choreographed numerous original ballets as well as restaged Romantic and Classical ballets such as Les Sylphedes, Act II of Swan Lake, Pas de Quatre, Act II of Giselle, and excerpts from Paquita. Marie Broussard is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level V of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
