Flute Choir

The UL Lafayette Flute Choir is comprised of students from the flute studio of Dr. Andrea Loewy. It meets weekly to rehearse selections for large and small ensembles of flutes. Instrumentation includes the bass flute, alto flute, C flutes, and piccolos. Performances are scheduled in Angelle Hall and in area schools, both public and private. In rehearsals we explore concepts such as intonation, rhythmic accuracy, listening skills, and projection. Repertoire includes music from the baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary literature. In addition, works written by student composers are read and performed. Flute students often have a chance to rehearse a work in-depth and then conduct the ensemble at a public concert.
