7 Semesters of Ensemble Required
The courses you can take for ensemble credit depend on your primary instruments.
Strings
You can take AMUS 190/390 University Orchestra for ensemble credit. Bassists may substitute two semesters of AMUS 155 Wind Ensemble.
Winds, Brass & Percussion
These courses may be used for ensemble credit:
- AMUS 152/352 Marching Band (two semesters minimum)
- AMUS 153/353 Concert Band
- AMUS 154/354 Symphonic Band
- AMUS 155/355 Wind Ensemble
- AMUS 190/390 University Orchestra
Guitar
You must take four semesters of AMUS 250/450 Chamber Music and two semesters minimum of AMUS 152/352 Marching Band.
You can substitute two semesters maximum as:
- A singer in AMUS 140/340 University Chorus, AMUS 145/345 University Chorale, or AMUS 146/346 Chamber Singers
- OR on a major instrument in AMUS 160/360 Traditional Music Ensemble, AMUS 170/370 Jazz Ensemble, or AMUS 180/380 Jazz Combo
Jazz Guitar
You must take four semesters of AMUS 170/370 Jazz Ensemble and AMUS 180/380 Jazz Combo, plus two semesters minimum of AMUS 152/352 Marching Band.
You can substitute two semesters maximum as:
- A singer in AMUS 144/344 Ragin' Cajun Women's Choir, AMUS 145/345 University Chorale, or AMUS 146/346 Chamber Singers
- OR on a major instrument in AMUS 160/360 Traditional Music Ensemble
